Secondary Education (Modern Languages, Spanish)
The modern languages specialist pathway prepares students to teach Spanish at key stage 3, key stage 4 and in the 6th form. The course also allows students to develop a 2nd teaching language. 2/3 of the time is spent working in schools. The main emphasis is on planning work for pupils, planning for good discipline/control and developing skills as a teacher. Successful completion of this course leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) subject to satisfactory performance in skills tests.
A 2.2 Honours degree in a subject related to Spanish (at least 50 per cent of the degree content needs to be relevant to Spanish). GCSE A-C in English language and mathematics; proficiency in Spanish; applicants whose 1st language is not English require an IELTS score of 6.5.
