Secondary Education (Modern Languages, French)

The modern languages specialist pathway prepares students to teach French at key stage 3, key stage 4 and in the 6th form. The course also allows students to develop a 2nd teaching language. The main emphasis is on planning work for pupils, planning for good discipline/control and developing skills as a teacher. Students spend 24 weeks within at least 2 different schools. Successful completion of this course leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) subject to satisfactory performance in skills tests.

Entry requirements

A 2.2 Honours degree in a subject related to French (at least 50 per cent of the degree content needs to be relevant to French). GCSE (A-C): English language and mathematics; proficiency in French applicants whose 1st language is not English require an IELTS score of 6.5.
