Education (English Language Teaching)
The course explores the principles and practice of second-language acquisition and the teaching of English through literature and multimedia. They investigate key themes for international educators such as globalisation, world Englishe languages and current thinking on diversity and inclusive education. A module on research methods and project design will enables students to conduct a literature review, develop a research proposal and construct a small-scale research project in an area of specific interest.
A 2nd Class degree or above, or equivalent relevant experience; all applicants are interviewed by telephone; applicants whose 1st language is not English are required to have a minimum IELTS score of 6.5.
Modules include: Academic english; principles and practice of English language teaching; themes in education policy and practice; 2nd language acquisition; multimedia approaches to the teaching and learning of english language; the social and cultural contexts of english language teaching; teaching of English language and literature; research methods in education; dissertation.
Assessment is through coursework and dissertation.
