Structural Design and Construction Management with Sustainability

This course focuses on the challenges and opportunities for the concrete industry in meeting the demands of sustainability. It combines concrete technology, sustainable construction, earthquake engineering, fire assessment, geo-environmental engineering and construction management.

Entry requirements

An Honours degree or academic equivalent in a relevant area; exceptionally, applicants who have substantial working experience in a related discipline (without a 1st degree) may be considered; applicants whose 1st language is not English require an IELTS score of 6.5 overall with 6.0 in writing and 5.5 in reading, listening and speaking.

Course modules

Modules include: Sustainability and concrete construction; reinforced and pre-stressed concrete design; design of concrete structures subjected to seismic actions; substructure design in reinforced concrete; conditions of contract; estimating, purchasing and cost control; quality and safety management; project and risk management; individual research dissertation.

Assessment methods

Assessment is through coursework and/or exams and research thesis.
