Embedded Systems (Computer Vision)
The course develops a disciplined engineering approach to and sound practical skills in the specification, design and implementation of software for embedded systems. Students gain specialist knowledge in digital signal processing and processors, control systems, mechatronics and automation and research methods.
An Honours degree or equivalent in computer science, IT, electronics, engineering or mathematics; or substantial relevant work experience; applicants whose 1st language is not English require an IELTS score of 6.5 overall with 6.0 in writing and 5.5 in reading, listening and speaking.
Modules include: Mechatronics and automation; control systems; digital signal processing; digital signal processors; research methods; project/dissertation. Options include: advanced automotive electronics; component-based software engineering; developing object-orientated solutions; digital imaging; embedded media streaming; imaging devices; pattern recognition and neural networks; programming in java; multimedia communications; scientific programming; sensors and actuators.
Assessment is through coursework and/or exams; research project/dissertation.
