Cancer Biology

This course is to give students an in-depth understanding of the disease processes involved in malignancy and find out more about the scientific rationale for therapeutic options it is designed so that students link their academic knowledge with the practical applications of cancer biology particularly in relation to modern advances in understanding. Students are trained in research methods in science and learn about the techniques used in molecular biology. Students also study the biology of disease, tumour biology, immunology, molecular oncology, haematological malignancy and diagnosis and therapy.

Entry requirements

An Honours degree or equivalent in a biologically related discipline or professional qualification; applicants with professional experience may be eligible; applicants whose 1st language is not English require Academic IELTS of 6.5 overall with 6.0 in writing and 5.5 in reading, listening and speaking.

Course modules

Modules include: Biology of disease; molecular medicine; tumour biology; immunology; molecular oncology; haematological malignancy; cancer diagnosis and therapy; research and organisation in biomedical science; research project.

Assessment methods

Assessment is through coursework, examination and a research project.
