Pharmaceutical Science with Management Studies

Students explore recent trends in chemical, biological and biotechnological therapeutics and take a look at the latest technologies used in the pharmaceutical industry. An understanding is also gained of the processes used in clinical trials and in the development, manufacturing and regulation of medicines. Students are offered a placement within industry or the University's laboratories. The management studies modules provides an insight into how the business world operates and introduces students to marketing concepts and people management skills.

Entry requirements

An Honours degree in chemistry, pharmacy, life science or a related subject; applicants with alternative qualifications also need appropriate experience (in healthcare, the pharmaceutical industry or a regulatory body, for example); applicants whose 1st language is not English require an IELTS score of 6.5 overall with 6.0 in writing and 5.5 in reading, listening and speaking.

Course modules

Modules: clinical trials and pharmacovigilance; statistics and computing; developing, manufacturing and regulation of medicines; pharmaceutical instrumentation; pharmaceutical technology; finance resource management; managing people and organisations; research methods and skills; independent research project.

Assessment methods

Assessment methods includes: exams; tests; reports; assignments; case studies; oral and poster presentations; practical research project.
