An Honours degree or equivalent in forensic science, chemistry or a related life science/pharmacy discipline; appropriate experience in analysis; where English is not 1st language an IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent is required with 6.0 in writing and 5.5 in reading, listening and speaking.
Modules include: The role of the professional forensic scientist (interpretation, evaluation and presentation of evidence); drugs of abuse; separation science 1; separation science 2; molecular and atomic spectroscopy 1; molecular and atomic spectroscopy 2; fibres, firearms and fire; specialised analytical techniques, applications and problem solving; research project.
Assessment is through: exams; laboratory reports; assignments; case studies; oral presentations; poster presentations; practical research project.
