European Languages and Cultures

Enquires are warmly welcomed from appropriately qualified applicants who are keen to register for doctoral research in any of the areas covered by staff expertise. Students may pursue a topic based entirely within 1 or several of the 5 languages: French, German, Italian, Spanish, Catalan - but also of interest are projects which are comparative or transcultural in the scope of European and global studies. It is also possible to receive joint supervision by European languages and cultures and another department in the university such as history, linguistics, politics, philosophy and religion, or sociology.

Entry requirements

Usually an MA degree and a viable research proposal. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.

Assessment methods include: Original research and thesis.
