Theatre and Performance
Our MA by research programmes are designed for graduates who want to prepare for doctoral study either by integrating creative practice with theoretical or historical work, or through traditional academic research. One third of the programme comprises taught modules, while two thirds are given over to a continuous overarching research project. Students take 3 taught modules (two compulsory modules and a third module relating to their specialised subject). Students will have strong supervisor support throughout the course and will be involved in regular group seminars during the first two academic terms.
An upper 2nd Class Honours degree, or its equivalent, in a relevant discipline. For international students: IELTS 6.5 score (minimum of 6.0 in each element), or equivalent qualification.
Compulsory modules: critical thinking; research theory and methods. Art modules: contemporary issues in the arts and creative sector. Design modules: contemporary issues in the arts and creative sector; imagination lab; design and business; design directions. Film Studies modules: contemporary issues in the arts and creative sector; cinema and history. Theatre and performance modules: contemporary issues in the arts and creative sector.
Assessment is via coursework, presentation, thesis and/or artwork or event.
Each year LICA has four �fees only� bursaries to cover the course fees for the following types of awards: 2 MA bursaries for international students; 1 MA bursary for UK/EU students; 1 bursary to cover MA or PhD (1+3) fees for UK/EU students.
