Diplomacy and Foreign Policy
This programme is designed to introduce students to theories, issues and processes connected with diplomacy and foreign policy. The programme is especially relevant to those thinking about or currently working in diplomacy, international non-government organisations (NGOs), and international policy and politics. Distinguished diplomatic and foreign policy practitioners contribute to the programme and student trips are planned to, for example, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London, European Union organisations in Brussels and international organisations in Geneva.
An upper 2nd Class Honours degree, or its equivalent. Relevant professional qualifications and experience will also be considered. Students whose 1st language is not English require an IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent.
Modules incldue: Theory and concepts in diplomacy and foreign policy; issues and practice in diplomacy and foreign policy; theory and method in postgraduate studies; dissertation (20,000 words); plus 1 optional module.
Assessment is based on coursework and dissertation; students take 5 taught modules each assessed by a 5,000 word essay.
