Biomedical Science

This degree enables you to gain in-depth knowledge of a particular area of biomedical research while becoming familiar with general and specific research methods and laboratory practice. The degree format includes 9 months of full-time laboratory work as part of an established research group, direct learning of research methods through the graduate training programme, and a 3 month writing up period, in which you will produce a dissertation. Your dissertation (which is examined by a viva voce) is the means by which the degree is assessed.

Entry requirements

An upper 2nd Class Honours degree, or its equivalent, in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology or a related subject.Applicants with a lower 2nd Class Honours degree or equivalent will also be considered on a case-by-case basis. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum 6.0 in each component) or equivalent.

Assessment methods

Assessment is based on original research and thesis.
