Human Resource and Knowledge Management

This programme offers in-depth analyses of human resource management, the centrality of knowledge to organising, and the role of change in contemporary organisations. Students will learn about the importance of the human resource in organising, and the conditions for fostering the development of knowledge and the enabling of change, and will hone the capabilities and skills necessary to manage people and knowledge effectively. The programme will give students a sound grounding in the knowledge and skills needed to embark on a career in management and business, and provides an excellent preparation for a professional management career.

Entry requirements

A degree in management, business studies, social sciences, history, philosophy, English, languages, arts or other humanities. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require an IELTS score of 7.0 overall or equivalent qualification (minimum element scores apply).

Subject areas include: Advanced study skills; dissertation; human resource management 1; human resource management 2; knowledge and global organisations; knowledge management; organisations in the 21st century; the management of organisational change; the production of managerial knowledge 1: The rise of management ideas and concepts; the production of managerial knowledge 2: Analysing management in practice; the production of managerial knowledge 3: Quantitative methods.

Assessment methods

Assessment is by coursework, examinations and a dissertation.
