Examine the cultural significance of leisure and sport, and how this phenomenon can be both a unifying and divisive force in our society. Students gain a thorough understanding of how sport and leisure can have an enormous effect on people's lives from a local to global level. Students can focus their studies on a particular area that interests them ranging from the technical and legal aspects of sport doping, to how tourism and sport impact on different cultures around the globe.

Entry requirements

Applicants should have studied at least to degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent professional qualifications; applicants may demonstrate the following minimum prior certificated learning, a good Honours Degree of a UK University in an relevant area or an equivalent professional qualification; records of achievement which are demonstrably equivalent to either of the above; applicants may gain direct entry to the Postgraduate Diploma component of a course if they can demonstrate they have obtained a recognised Postgraduate Certificate, or its equivalent, in the specific subject matter of the course, and have not previously received a Postgraduate Diploma award as a result of that Postgraduate Certificate or its equivalent; applicants may gain direct entry to the Master's component of a course if they can demonstrate that they have obtained a recognised Postgraduate Diploma, or its equivalent, in the specific subject matter of the course and, can demonstrate study of research methodology equivalent to that required for courses within the structure and, have not previously received a Master's award as a result of that Postgraduate Diploma or its equivalent; applicants' selection for the course will be based on these general criteria, together with any course-specific requirements.
