Advanced Social Work Practice
Applicants should normally have at least a 2nd Class Honours degree, hold an appropriate social work qualification (such as a degree in social work, a DIPSW, CQSW, CSS) and be able to demonstrate an understanding of social work practice. Applicants who do not have English as their 1st language are required to have IELTS 7.0 with no skill below 6.5 or an equivalent award. Non-social workers applying for the practice of best interests assessment module must hold one of the following qualifications and have at least 2 years' post registration experience in that profession: an approved mental health professional; a 1st level nurse, registered in sub-part 1 of the nurses part of the register maintained under article 5 of the Nursing and Midwifery Order 2001; an occupational therapist registered in part 6 of the register maintained under article 5 of the Health Professions Order 2001; a chartered psychologist who is listed in the British Psychological Society's register of chartered psychologists and who holds a relevant practising certificate issued by that Society.
Critical practice for newly qualified social workers; practice education in social work; understanding and evaluating the evidence; advanced practice safeguarding children and young people; or, legal and policy context of safeguarding adults; ethics in health and community care; research in practice (dissertation); working with substance use (optional module); advanced leadership and management in practice (optional module); contemporary context of mental health and recovery (optional module).
