Public Health (Health Promotion)

This course develops the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to promote and protect public health and wellbeing. Focusing on the social determinants of health, students are equipped to fulfil a variety of roles in health promotion and public health, working in local authorities, health services or the voluntary sector. The course focuses on how people and communities can empower themselves to improve their health, and how public policy can create healthier societies and places. Students investigate the psychology of behaviour change, together with how people learn about health. The research strand will enable students to critically appraise evidence and develop research skills.

Entry requirements

Degree in a relevant subject; or relevant professional qualifications; applicants without a degree must complete a satisfactory assessment of prior learning form; all applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 with no skill below 5; or equivalent.
