Sports and Exercise Medicine

This course enables students to use science and medicine to help top athletes reach their physical peak and aid the general population in maintaining healthy exercise lifestyles. Students gain practical expertise that will allow them to assess, treat and support individuals from a variety of sporting disciplines. For example students learn to understand the process of an injury audit in order to identify risks, and learn how to implement an evidence-based treatment plan that minimises the chance of re-injury or illness.

Entry requirements

Applicants should have either a medical degree from a recognised university; at least a 2.1 Honours degree in the cognate subjects of physiotherapy, sports therapy or osteopathy. Professional requirements, students must provide evidence in their application of the following as appropriate for their profession: current unrestricted medical registration certificate (e.g. GMC); registered osteopath and paid up member of GOsC (General Osteopathic Council); or registration certificate with the Health Care Professions Council; Students should also currently be practicing in a capacity that allows exposure to sports and exercise medicine related clinical activity. IELTS:7.0 with no skill below 6.5.
