Human Resource Management and Development

The course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental principles and techniques of managing and developing human resources in organisations. This programme enables students to develop competence, techniques and effectiveness in the field.

Entry requirements

A 1st Class or upper 2nd Class Honours degree in management, development studies, education, business, public administration or marketing or social science. Applications from students who do not hold a 1st or 2.1 Honours degree (or equivalent) will be asked to demonstrate potential to achieve a Master's award via a sample of academic writing and interview before an offer is made. Students whose 1st language is not English there is a language requirement of IELTS 6.5 overall (reading 6, writing 6), TOEFL ibt 87, or other equivalent recognised English language qualification.

Course modules

Modules include: Human resource management; organisational behaviour and leadership; management strategy; enterprise and entrepreneurship; global economic development; human resource development; international organisation; research methods; dissertation. Elective modules: managerial finance; global business ethics; knowledge management and development; operations management; research dissertation.

Assessment methods

Assessment is done individually; assessment methods vary but generally include essays, presentations and a dissertation.
