BCPM006 - Creative Practice Research Methodology
This module presents students with key examples of Practice as Research methodology and discusses the development of their major projects. Throughout the module, students develop a portfolio of work which records their progress as researchers, building towards their final body of work, together with their Creative Research Statement and Conference Presentation. Its goal is to guide students through the process of academic research, in which they accrue knowledge of Practice as Research within the arts and expertise in managing their own independent research project.
BCPM007 - Perspectives on Creative Practice
The module consists of a series of core lectures reflecting a range of discourses and aspects of practice relevant to the contemporary milieu. Drawing on a range of disciplinary perspectives it seeks to provide a series of lenses through which creative practice can be perceived, reflected on and given impetus with reference to contemporary practice including colleagues and visiting academics and creative practitioners.
BCPM008 - Professional Creative Practice
The module provides a focus for professional practice as it relates to creative practice. It will provide an opportunity for advanced reflection on the relationship between production and consumption of cultural artefacts and events and encourage students to prepare themselves for the professional world. The module will broadly outline the key contexts of both documentary methodology and dissemination, allowing the students then to develop a framework for the presentation of their practice. Content will therefore include key introductions to website design, photographic archiving, publication, use of social media or emerging virtual platforms, networking and database membership, conferencing and applications to funding mechanisms.
BCPM009 - Exploratory Creative Practice
The module consists of a series of tutorials with the student, initially to agree a robust creative research area, subsequently to provide a critical dialogue, creative encouragement, professional advice and technical assistance.
BCPM0010 - Developmental Creative Practice
This module follows on from the Exploratory Creative Practice module and builds on it to develop the substantial focus of the creative work proposed.
The module places an increasing emphasis on self-direction supported by the accompanying negotiated bi-weekly tutorials.
BCPM011 - Advanced Creative Practice
This Advanced Creative Practice module builds upon the Exploratory and Developmental modules and represents the culmination of the creative output of the student. It supports the contextualisation, realisation, appraisal and dissemination of the practice to a mature public facing and professional level.
Assessment is based on major project: developed under supervision.
