Liverpool Hope University
Art and Design
This course aims to produce teachers whose enthusiasm for Art and Design inspires pupils in their study of the subject. There is currently great demand for Art and Design teachers in UK secondary schools and we offer the support students need as they embark on a teaching career. Through the university's partnerships with schools in the region, students will be able to gain experience of teaching their specialist subject across the 1118 age group to a minimum of KS3 level.
First degree 2.2 or above incorporating at least 50 percent art and design; grade C in English and mathematics at GCSE (or equivalent); experience of observation in a mainstream secondary state school; it is a government requirement that you take the numeracy and literacy skills tests as part of the application process. You must ensure you have passed them both before the start of the course.
This is a fully integrated course of Initial Professional Development, subject-specific pedagogy and school-based learning which encourages student teachers to apply their theoretic understanding to practical situations.
