This programme provides students with a thorough grounding in Christian theology. It enables students to relate contemporary theological issues to wider historical and socio-cultural concerns.
Normally a 1st Class or upper 2nd Class Honours degree. Applications from students who do not hold a 1st or 2.1 Honours degree (or equivalent) will be asked to demonstrate potential to achieve a Masters award via a sample of academic writing and interview before an offer is made. Students whose 1st language is not English will require evidence of proficiency in the English language.
Core modules: postgraduate seminar in Christian theology; dissertation. Optional modules: living tradition: continuity and change in western and non-western Christianity; studies in Christology; studies in ecclesiology; negotiations and renegotiations in contemporary Christian theology. In addition, students take an additional 2 modules from the other postgraduate programmes in the department, which may include: Pauline literature; Jewish apocalyptic literature; Johannine literature; law, prophesy and wisdom: 3 worldviews in the Old Testament; theological issues in Judaism.
