This course leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Approximately 20 weeks of the course spent on placement.

Entry requirements

Candidates must hold a 2.2 degree in French; GCSE grade C or equivalent in English and mathematics; a minimum 10 days secondary school observation. It is a government requirement that applicants take the numeracy and literacy skills tests; students must ensure they have passed them both before the start of the course. Candidates may be invited for an interview as part of the application process, information relating to the interview process will be provided to an applicant with the invitation to interview letter. If invited for interview, all candidates will undertake a short literacy test. Any offer of a place on the programme is made conditional on satisfactory enhanced disclosure from the disclosure and barring service and a satisfactory fitness to teach declaration. School experience is desirable but not essential; applicants would need to demonstrate awareness of current school practices and curricula.
