The programme will provide participants with the opportunity to research and improve their own practise by discovering the new skills that can be gained from studying their subject specialism to an advanced academic level. This process is supported by the study of contemporary education theory, through modules designed to provide the skills and critical understanding necessary to innovate in a rapidly evolving educational landscape. Those who study on this programme, will be exposed to subject specific research informed teaching delivered by specialists in their field. Students who complete the course will attain an insight into contemporary thinking in their field and also in the field of learning and teaching. This programme emphasises education as an academic field of study and the importance of research in the development of teaching practise.
Normally a 1st Class or upper 2nd Class Honours degree. Applications from students who do not hold a 1st or 2.1 Honours degree (or equivalent) will be asked to demonstrate potential to achieve a Masters award via a sample of academic writing and interview before an offer is made. Please note that a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) is required for students where they are required to visit settings other than their own. For students whose 1st language is not English there is a language requirement of IELTS 6.5 overall (reading 6, writing 6), TOEFL IBT 87, or other equivalent recognised English language qualification.
