This programme allows students to develop strengths and interests by encouraging reflection and debate with like-minded professionals, supported by staff with experience and expertise in this area; the route has been designed to cater for the interests of professionals in all kinds of settings including primary, secondary and post-compulsory education; faith and non-faith schools and faith organisations.

Entry requirements

A 1st Class or upper 2nd Class Honours degree. Applications from students who do not hold a 1st or 2.1 Honours degree (or equivalent) will be asked to demonstrate potential to achieve a Masters award via a sample of academic writing and interview before an offer is made. Please note that a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) is required for students where they are required to visit settings other than their own. For students whose 1st language is not English there is a language requirement of IELTS 6.5 overall (reading 6, writing 6), TOEFL IBT 87, or other equivalent recognised English language qualification.

Course modules

Modules include: Education: learning and teaching; assessments; curriculum theory; curriculum development; education theory block: core philosopher of education; history of British education; educational inequalities in the global age; developmental psychology (childhood); religious education block: controversial issues in religious education; context, curriculum and purposes of religious education.
