Applied Exercise Physiology
The course involves a systematic examination of key applied fields in exercise physiology such as exercise testing, nutrition, training and rehabilitation. Students will gain practical laboratory experience with a wide range of techniques to measure physiological parameters. This programme will enable students to develop a critical appreciation of the application of principles of exercise physiology.
Normally a 1st Class or upper 2nd Class Honours degree in a relevant subject such as sports science, exercise Science or similar. Applications from students who do not hold a 1st or 2.1 Honours degree (or equivalent) will be asked to demonstrate potential to achieve a Masters award via a sample of academic writing and interview before an offer is made. Students whose 1st language is not English will require evidence of proficiency in the English language.
The curriculum will comprise: exercise energetics and metabolism; exercise testing and physiological assessment in elite performance and clinical populations; exercise and health; exercise training and rehabilitation; sport and exercise nutrition; applied practice in exercise physiology; independent research project.
