International Human Resource Management

This programme will develop your abilities to critically examine and apply contemporary approaches to human resource management within organisations operating in a global environment. The degree will develop your ability to act in the capacity of a human resource professional who is required to fulfil an organisations' growing need to recruit and outsource talent. You will critically examine the needs of the global marketplace and the integration of skills, systems and knowledge required within organisations so that they can operate efficiently and effectively in dynamic commercial environments. Using international business case studies highlighting best practice across a variety of sectors, industries and stakeholders, you will also evaluate different approaches to managing human resources.

Entry requirements

An honours degree in any subject area 2.2 or above. Experience in the field of HR, training, development or related area OR aspiring to a career in these areas. Industry experience recommended but not essential. Additional qualifications considered - Level 5 CIPD Intermediate standards.

Course modules

Modules include: Introduction to international human resource management strategy and context; managing global resourcing, talent and performance; organisational development in an international arena; professional skills and behaviours in human resource management; engagement in a global digital age; professional skills and behaviours; finance and project management for international human resource consultants; research methods for international contexts.

Assessment methods

Assessment methodsinclude: Written assignments reviewing the implications of major pieces of current research for contemporary organisations; written assignments advising on and developing human resource strategy and policy in specific organisation and sector contexts; information technology portfolio evidencing development; face-to-face presentations and role play; research proposal in preparation for Master's level dissertation; dissertation.
