The programme will equip you with a range of skills and techniques appropriate for companies working in the field of advanced manufacturing and engineering. This programme builds on the experience developed at undergraduate level and provides a progression route for graduates from relevant programmes in mechanical and manufacturing engineering.
Core modules: Advanced materials; optical measurement and inspection; manufacturing process engineering; manufacturing management; research skills; project management; automation systems; supply chain modelling; project. Option modules: Advanced engineering design; operations research; safety and reliability; alternative energy systems; modelling Matlab and Simulink; programming for engineering; LabVIEW.
You will gain knowledge and skills on this course through lectures and directed student-centred learning, such as case studies. You will also have the opportunity to complete open-ended reports and project work to demonstrate your understanding of topics. Assessment is through a combination of coursework including case study reports and assignment submissions plus short class tests. Some modules also include testing of problem solving skills through a combination of unseen written examinations. Modules including CAD software and professional skills include assessment of your development, as well as, attainment in these areas.
