Advanced Educational Practice
You will carry out a piece of in-depth research and develop skills to work largely independently with support from a supervisor. You can choose to specialise within your own area of expertise, or diversify your research study into other areas of educational interest. The programme has strong links with schools, colleges, local authorities and other universities. It can be structured to meet the needs of groups/teams working on school, local authority or college improvement projects.
You will need a degree from a UK University (or equivalent) in any subject or a professional qualification, with degree equivalence, in a relevant subject area (e.g. DPSE, DASE, Advanced Diploma) plus an IELTS score of at least 6.5 for applicants whose study/experience was undertaken/gained in languages other than English; Non-QTS education professionals.Candidates with a Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma or other Masters level qualifications (deemed, by the Programme Board, to be equivalent to relevant parts of the CPD/MA programme), may be permitted to enter with exemptions, subject to the University�s regulations on Advanced Standing in Postgraduate Awards and the approval of the ECL Faculty Accreditation Committee. The APL/APEL system will be explained to all candidates.

Optional modules: learning, teaching and assessment; developing the role of the subject leader; social and emotional aspects of learning; professional development for leadership; leadership and management in education; mentoring in education; developing mentoring and coaching; developing collaborative coaching for school/organisational improvement; the role of the SENCO; teaching young people with SEN; children with BESD: prevention and response; the identification, assessment and teaching of people with dyslexia; BESD and mental health issues; autistic spectrum disorder in the mainstream context; ADHD, dyslexia and dyspraxia; analysis and design of multi-sensory learning and teaching approaches; assessment of complexity within dyslexia; current issues in education; developing professional practice; emotion and educational leadership; vocational education: contemporary issues; vocational education: pedagogy and curriculum; leading vocational education: policy to practice.
