Advanced Educational Practice (Special Educational Needs)

The programme engages professionals from all fields of the education sector and beyond. Indeed, one of the key features of this course is that you will learn from each other through shared experiences. By completing this programme you will gain enhanced knowledge and understanding of special and inclusive needs and ultimately be able to contribute to organisational change and effectiveness. This Postgraduate Certificate also provides the option of progression to a Postgraduate Diploma or as the entry route to a Masters degree. To be awarded the full MA in Advanced Educational Practice: Special Educational Needs, you need to complete 180 credits. If you achieve 120 credits or 60 credits you will be awarded a PgDip or PgCert respectively.

Entry requirements

You will need a first degree (minimum 2.2) or a Certificate in Education (gained prior to graduate entry into teaching); a Certificate in Education (post 16), with appropriate professional experience. If your first language is not English, you will also need an IELTS score of 6.5 (minimum of Level 6 in reading and writing).

Course modules

Core module: teaching young people with special educational needs. Option modules: select two from: children with BESD: prevention and response; ADHD, dyslexia and dyspraxia; ASD in a mainstream context.
