This programme will provide you with the skills and knowledge to be able to respond and adapt to new technologies and new ideas. There is an increasing need for computer scientists with a thorough grounding in the practices and disciplines of the computing, who can devise and develop innovative and accurate solutions to complex, challenging problems. This masters degree will equip you with the skills required to critically evaluate algorithms, tools and techniques in computing and design effective and safe complex software solutions.

Entry requirements

Applicants will normally require one of the following: an Honours Degree in Computing or a Computing-related subject, including subjects with a significant core of computing; or professional qualifications with equivalent standing. Non-UK applicants will be expected to have demonstrated competence in English language equivalent to a minimum of IELTS 6.0. Applicants who have studied and successfully achieved a UK degree within 24 months of the start of the MSc are exempt from this requirement.

Course modules

Core modules: Project dissertation; research methods; advanced data structures and algorithms; research topics in computer science; computation theory; information and social networks. Option modules: Advanced software engineering concepts; software development with Java; computer forensics; computer security.
