Photography

The emphasis of the course is on the acquisition of a high level of technical and professional skills together with the development of an individual, distinctive and conceptually strong practice. Students will explore both traditional and digital image capture skills and the development of new hybrid technologies. In addition, the course highlights the expansive areas of new media surrounding professional photography. Through talks, seminars and workshops it will enable students to contextualise their practice within contemporary photography, and to develop a range of intellectual, analytical and professional skills. Students will work on set and self-initiated projects which promote learning through discovery, interaction and response to change. Students will have the opportunity to develop a high quality portfolio suitable for presentation when approaching clients for employment or commissions, or curators for those who wish to be an exhibiting photographer. For those wishing to continue their study, the theory and research elements of the course will prepare students for further learning at a higher level.
