Public Management and Governance
The study of public management and governance is primarily concerned with developing, delivering, and evaluating public policy programmes. Publicly-governed organisations play crucial roles in conducting each of these processes. For this reason, it is important to understand how to develop and assess public policy programmes as well as how to devise means for publicly-governed organisations to make their contribution to programme outcomes and impact. The issue of public governance has become increasingly important with perceived failings of professional self-regulation, the emergence of multi-level systems of political jurisdictions and administrations and the expanded role of the private sector in delivering publicly-financed services. The programme offers an opportunity for you to gain an in-depth education in this field, as well as to become skilled in using this knowledge in responding to policy and management challenges in internationally diverse practice settings. The programme attracts pre-career applicants with a high level of academic achievement, as well as mid-career applicants with significant accomplishments in public service.
