Applicants require: a 1st or 2nd Class Honours degree, or the equivalent, from a university or other institution acceptable to the University of London, in a subject appropriate to the course; or an appropriate professional or technical qualification, together with at least 3 years' relevant experience, which satisfies the University as a qualification equivalent to a 2nd Class Honours degree (considered on an individual basis); applicants who do not satisfy the above requirements may still be admitted at the discretion of the School on the basis of their academic qualifications, work experience and references; applicants without English as their 1st language must show they have passed 1 of the following tests within the previous 3 years: IELTS 7.0 with a minimum of 7 in written sub-test, or TOEFL paper-based test 600 or TOEFL computer-based test with a minimum of 5 in the test of written English, or TOEFL internet-based test 100 with a minimum of 24 in the test of written English.
Modules include: principles of biostatistics and epidemiology; principles of biology; biology of infectious diseases; control of infectious diseases;. Electives: Bacterial infections; nutrition and infection; parasitology; viral infections; healthcare-associated infection; immunology of infection and vaccines; epidemiology and control of infectious diseases in developing countries; HIV/AIDS; tuberculosis; malaria; project report; research design, management and analysis.
