Business Intelligence and Social Media

This course is supported by IBM (UK) and is aimed at graduates/practitioners seeking to enhance your practical skills and gain comprehensive knowledge of business intelligence, business analytics and the commercial tools applicable to 'big data' gathered from social media, the cloud and other data sources. Business Intelligence has emerged in recent years as a key source of competitive advantage for companies, enabling them to improve performance across the business, from overall strategy to marketing.

Entry requirements

Although applicants normally require a first degree (usually at least a 2.2) or a Higher National Diploma in a relevant subject and a minimum of three years post-qualification experience in a relevant field to undertake postgraduate study here we recognise that many people have a wealth of valuable skills and knowledge they've developed at work or through training. If candidates have the potential to succeed in postgraduate or post-experience studies we'll consider their application on its individual merit. Applications may be considered where candidates demonstrate a combination of educational qualifications and work experience. All overseas candidates whose first language is not English should normally have attained a minimum of IELTS Level 6.5.

Course modules

Modules include: Business intelligence architecture; database management; human computer interaction; business intelligence analytics; research methods; social media and digital publishing strategic management and entrepreneurship; project.

Assessment methods

Assessment is by a mix of coursework and examinations.
