Nursing

We are a leading centre for research in London for nursing, midwifery, allied health professions, public health and social care. 80% of our research into Allied Health Professions and Nursing was awarded the highest quality ratings of 4* or 3* for 'impact' (reach and significance) -Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014 - this document is available to download from our website: http://www.lsbu.ac.uk/courses/course-finder/nursing-phd. A member of staff, expert in the chosen field, is directly responsible for guiding and supporting your research programme. As a research student you'll become part of our thriving academic community. A PhD, by definition, is an original contribution to knowledge. A research degree is different from a taught course. Research students are expected to self-direct their learning with support from a supervisory team. The School of Health and Social Care runs a monthly doctoral support programme where you can meet students at different points in their doctoral studies and benefit from peer support and sessions to support your learning. There are also development sessions organised by the Central Research Office for LSBU's research students and a lively annual Summer School. For an informal discussion about making an application, please contact Professor Lesley Baillie:baillil2@lsbu.ac.uk

Entry requirements

When applying for a Research Degree Programme at LSBU you are expected to have a good honours degree. If you have the equivalent of a lower second or third class honours you would also need a Postgraduate qualification at Masters level. You will also be required to show proof of all of your qualifications.
