Leadership and Service Improvement in Health Care

This programme focuses on leadership, change management, evidence-based service innovation and delivery, all key to the delivery of high quality health care. The programme is intended for experienced, qualified health care professionals who may work in and across a range of health care settings and in a variety of clinical, managerial and leadership roles.

Entry requirements

At least a 2nd Class Honours degree and a health related professional qualification; experience in a leadership role is desirable.

Course modules

Year 1 (3 core modules, 20 credits each): Semester 1: research in health and social care; strategic leadership in health care. Semester 2: innovation for excellence leading service improvement. Year 2 (1 core and 2 optional modules, 20 credits each). Core module: delivering an evidence-based service. Optional modules (1 module from group A, 1 module from group B): mentorship and coaching for leadership (group a); leading in patient and public engagement (group a); issues in knowledge construction (group b); professional development through contract learning (group b); equality and diversity in the workforce (group b); commissioning and procurement in the health and social services (group b). Year 3: dissertation (60 credits)
