Non-Medical Prescribing

This short professional programme validated by theNursing Midwifery Council (NMC), General Pharmaceutical Council (GPC) and Health and CareProfessions Council (HCPC) prepares qualified nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapistsand podiatrists for independent prescribing and radiographers for supplementaryprescribing within a specified field of clinical practice.

Entry requirements

Current registration with an appropriate regulatory body (NMC, GPhC); 3 years post-registration experience; support from the sponsoring organisation; an identified designated medical practitioner; a 1st degree in health care; current DBS clearance.

Course modules

Modules include: pharmacology and applied therapeutics; practical aspects of prescribing; prescribing in clinical practice.
