Housing Studies

The course concentrates on housing policy and the changing role of the housing professional; students examine urban development processes and compare housing policy and practice, which is explored more fully on a European study visit to the Netherlands; students explore housing economics and finance, new directions in housing policy, and develop research skills.

Entry requirements

MA

This course is intended for experienced professionals wishing to gain a professional qualification.
*2:2 UK Honours degree in a relevant subject; or
*2:2 in any subject with substantial housing or other relevant experience
*Non-graduates will be considered if they have substantial experience in a housing or housing-related organisation. They will be interviewed by the Course Director on application.

PgCert

This course is a fast-track for experienced senior professionals wishing to consolidate their work experience with up-to-date learning and gain a professional qualification.

2:2 UK Honours degree with senior and substantial housing or other relevant experience
Non-graduates will be considered if they have substantial experience at senior level in a housing or housing-related organisation. They will be interviewed by the Course Director on application.

Course modules

Modules include: The new housing professional 1; the new housing professional 2; comparative housing and study visit; housing economics; housing and urban development; neighbourhood; management and renewal; dissertation.

Assessment methods

Modules are assessed by a range of coursework, design and practice based projects, presentations and a dissertation. There are no exams on this programme.
Part-time = three modules a year for two years then dissertation in Year 3.
