Construction Project Management
This course focuses on both practical and theoretical aspects of management in both organisational and project-based contexts; management subjects are supplemented by advanced financial appraisal techniques, and finance law is specifically related to construction and development; students have the opportunity to carry out postgraduate research on a topic within, or allied to, construction or development.
A good Honours degree in a discipline relevant to the built environment, for example estate management, quantity or building surveying, building, architecture, town planning, housing or related discipline; or corporate membership of a professional body concerned with property or construction, for example, RICS, CIOB, RIBA, RTPI, CIOH, or other relevant body of equal standing; or a qualification regarded as equivalent to the above; or a good Honours degree in a non-construction subject and some experience in the construction and development fields.
Modules include: Procurement and management of construction; corporate and project finance; construction law; management of people and information; project evaluation; dissertation. Optional modules: advanced measurement and documentation; behavioural finance; building control; ecological and sustainable domestic architecture; environment and resource management; health and safety management in construction; history of architecture and construction; international real estate and construction; legal resolution of property and construction disputes.
