Security, Peace-Building and Diplomacy
This programme explores the link between national and global security and the role of peace-building in developing multi-layered communities and nations. This programme offers teaching and contact hours in the evenings and on Saturdays only.Students will benefit from specialised, systematic and in-depth study focused on the relationship between diplomacy and international security and peace-building. They will utilise appropriate theories, concepts and methods associated with this work, while exploring the relationships between development and peace-building, civil-military relation, cyber security, global identity and security.
Minimum of a lower 2nd Class Honours degree from a UK university or equivalent overseas qualification recognised by Loughborough University.English language requirements: IELTS 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in each subtest (reading, listening, writing and speaking) or equivalent.
Modules include: Individual Project, dissertation, business plan or placement; diplomacy: policy, practice and procedures 1; diplomacy: policy, practice and procedures 2; emergency simulations; peace-building; international security; second subject module. Optional modules include: Economic global governance; the politics and practice of the European Union; economic diplomacy; diplomatic discourse; cultural projection and perception.
Modules are assessed by a combination of essays, group exercises, presentations and time constrained assignments. Subject to your choices, there may also be exams.
