Internet Media Clouds with Business
This programme presents students with knowledge and expertise in Internet and media clouds with basic and advanced levels of business aspects for not only providing the usual Internet and media cloud service businesses, but also for generating new business and entrepreneurship opportunities. This programme enhances awareness of current trends in Internet and media cloud technologies, and their co-operative use to lay foundations for designing future communication and media delivery mechanisms and the associated business opportunities. Engaging with this programme enables students to combine their engineering skills in a business orientated approach.
Minimum of a lower 2nd Class Honours degree in electronics, physics and related degree course from a UK university or equivalent overseas qualification recognised by Loughborough University. English language requirements: IELTS: 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in each subtest or equivalent.
Core modules include: Individual project, dissertation, business plan or placement; collaborative project; internet and communications networks; media cloud applications and services; cloud technologies and systems. Optional modules include: Innovation management; entrepreneurship; intellectual property; strategy and planning; understanding business failure; fundamentals of multimedia signals and processing; media processing and coding; content and network security; internet of things and application; introduction to programming and Matlab; mobile broadband and wireless networks; media applications, design and quality of experience; funding.
Modules are assessed primarily by exams and may also include a combination of essays, group exercises, presentations and time constrained assignments.
