Creative Writing

This programme gives students the opportunity to write in a range of genres and forms, whilst choosing what to submit for feedback. Students work on elements of fiction and poetry, as well as genres such as writing for TV and the weird tale. There are also workshops on creative non-fiction such as travel writing, biography and verbatim theatre.

Entry requirements

Upper 2nd class (2.1) Honours degree or equivalent in English, drama or a related subject.

Course modules

Semester 1, departures: resources for advanced research; perspectives. Semester 2; diversions; writers and the writing industries; summer; dissertation.

Assessment methods

Assessment is by submission of pieces writing of differing lengths, from 1,000-4,000 words, which may include a reflective element, and also includes presentations of your work and your professional plans.
