Advanced Manufacturing Engineering and Management
This programme is for both new graduates and engineering professionals who wish to develop the highly skilled techniques of manufacturing management and its related technologies. It is designed to prepare students for effective careers as technologists and managers who can meet the challenges of rapidly changing global manufacturing industries. Modules are taught by experts in the field and are directly informed by both our close industry links and our research expertise in areas including additive manufacturing, laser processing and automation. The programme is primarily designed to prepare students for an industrial career but it is equally relevant as preparation to continue their studies onto a relevant research area.
Upper 2nd Class Honours degree in any engineering discipline, or HND with appropriate industrial experience.
Core modules: manufacturing system and process modelling; lean and agile manufacture; engineering management and business studies; product information systems (product lifecycle management); the innovation process and project management; sustainable development: the engineering context; advanced manufacturing processes and automation; additive manufacturing; projects. In addition to the taught modules, all students undertake an individual major project. Part-time students normally undertake a major project that is based on the needs of their employing company.
