Analytical and Pharmaceutical Science
Developed in response to the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), and after extensive consultation with industry, this programme is designed for graduates in chemistry or closely related disciplines who wish to contribute to drug development and analysis, which is a process that requires multidisciplinary skills.
Lower 2nd Class Honours degree in chemistry, biochemistry or a closely related subject; other qualifications may be considered if the candidate has relevant industrial experience; participation in individual modules is possible by arrangement.
Core modules: research methods; separation techniques; pharmacokinetics and drug metabolism; spectroscopy and structural analysis; professional skills and dissertation; research training project; optional modules: mass spectrometry and associated techniques; drug targets, drug design and drug synthesis; innovations in analytical science.
