Internet Computing and Network Security
This programme gives students a broad, comprehensive and detailed knowledge about all aspects of computer networks. Focusing on all aspects of what is relevant to future network experts, the programme provides a view on network architecture, protocols, security and programming as well as wireless networks. Graduates achieve the necessary qualification to seek employment in industry immediately and gain a solid basis from which to obtain industry professional certificates.
Minimum Lower 2nd Class Honours degree or an equivalent qualification in computer science or an allied discipline.
Core technical modules (6 months): network modelling and performance: internet systems: internet protocol design; building secure networks; cryptography and secure systems; wireless networks. Dissertation project (6 months): research methods and project preparation; individual project.
Taught modules, with a total modular weight of 120 credits, assessed by coursework, examination and in-class tests. Dissertation Project: 60 credits.
