Sport and Exercise Psychology

This BPS-accredited programme provides students with a critical understanding of sport and exercise psychology. It is designed and delivered primarily with a view to best preparing students for 2 specific career pathways: either a sport and exercise psychologist / sport and exercise scientist, or a lecturer / professor of sport and exercise psychology / sport and exercise science, specialising in psychology.

Entry requirements

Minimum of an upper 2nd Class Honours degree in sport and exercise science, psychology or a related field.

Course modules

Core modules; semester 1: research methods and methodologies; performance psychology; applied sport psychology; motivation and individual differences in exercise and sport. Semester 2: quantitative research or qualitative research; applied sport psychology; psychology of physical activity and public health mental health and physical activity. Summer: research project.

Assessment methods

Examination, coursework and a research paper.
