Sport and Exercise Psychology

This programme provides students with a critical understanding of sport and exercise psychology. It is designed and delivered primarily with a view to best preparing students for 2 specific career pathways: a sport and exercise psychologist / sport and exercise scientist or a lecturer / professor of sport and exercise psychology / sport and exercise science, specialising in psychology. Areas of study include: research methods and methodologies, psychology of sport and physical activity in youth, current research in performance psychology and management, psychology of exercise for clinical populations, quantitative research, qualitative research, mental health in sport and exercise, professional practice in sport psychology, the psychology of the coach-athlete relationship, and a research project.

Entry requirements

An Upper 2nd Class Honours degree (or equivalent) in sport and exercise science, psychology, or a related field. High standard grades in relevant undergraduate and/or postgraduate modules. A personal statement. 2 sound academic references.
