Areas of research include: social policy and administration: poverty and social security; mental disorder and community care; drugs and social control; unemployment; women and poverty; equal opportunities; policing styles and relations between police and community; social psychology: rhetoric and argumentation; political psychology of ideology; determinants of psychological distress and psychotherapeutic effectiveness; social psychology of illness and symptom management; cognitive representations and group activities, mass media and social problems; psychological aspects of law, discourse and remembering in adults and children; role of discourse in racism and violent conflict; sociology: position of women in labour market; social processes of housing allocation; social consequences of debt; sociology of knowledge; sociology of organisations; French social theory; epistemology and methodology in social sciences; communication and media studies; sociological dimensions of food and eating.
