Financial Planning and Business Management

The MSc Financial Planning and Business Management has been developed to offer thought leaders in the financial planning sector the opportunity to contribute to the broader development of the profession through study of financial planning concepts, theories and models, and engagement in applied research. Students work with like-minded individuals and are supported by academic staff, with expertise in the financial planning area, throughout the research process, culminating in submission of a dissertation. Entry requirements

All applications will be considered on an individual basis. Advanced standing-120 credit programme, 15 months: You have gained the Chartered Financial Planner and, or Certified; Financial Planner qualification (or equivalent). Advanced standing - 90 credit programme, 10 months: You have gained Fellowship of the Personal Finance Society, Fellowship of the Chartered Insurance Insitute and, orFellowship of The Institute of Financial Planning. In addition, for both programmes: You have a minimum of four years of relevant management experience; you are engaged in formal continuing professional development (CPD) activities.

Course modules

Core modules: behavioural economics and financial decision making; academic and professional development; dissertation.

Assessment methods

Assessment methods include written assignments that require students to engage in critical evaluations and reflections upon academic theory and management practice, and to design a research plan to explore opportunities to develop existing theory, knowledge and understanding in their chosen area. Assessments are both formative and summative in nature, enabling students to reflect upon their progress, as well as providing the basis for appraisal of your achievement at each stage of the programme.
