This full-time programme enables students to blend their knowledge and skills in any discipline with management and project management. This is a broad-based management qualification covering: strategy and planning, human resource management, marketing, information and data management, and accounting and finance for managers. The course is based on an MBA-style curriculum and is academically rigorous without neglecting the applied, practical aspects of management education. This exciting 1 year programme is open to all students but also suitable for graduates who have not previously studied business and management. The programme equips students with both the foundations of business management and the most advanced tools and theories. Students have the opportunity to attend master classes given by keynote speakers from industry and have the opportunity to visit companies in the region to see how management is practiced in industry.
You will normally have a good UK Honours degree (minimum 2.2), or international equivalent in any subject. The course is also particularly appropriate for graduates who have not previously studied a business-related subject. We will also consider your application if you do not have a degree but do have substantial management experience. Applicants whose 1st language is not English are required to produce evidence of English language proficiency: TEFL minimum score 575 (minimum 4.0 in written test), or IELTS minimum score 6.5. Applicants who have an score of 5.5 may be considered provided they successfully complete an approved MMU English language course.
Modules include: strategy, innovation and entrepreneurship; management practice; investigating business practice; research methods; dissertation. Option module (choose 1 from): business psychology in action; employee resources, relations and law; international comparative human resource management; creative advertising; project concepts and practices; logistics and supply chain concepts; corporate finance and strategy. The number of units you study will depend on which award the award chosen: PgCert (60 credits); PgDip (120 credits); MSc (120 credits plus 60 credit dissertation).
A combination of written essays, written examinations, presentations (face-to-face or digital), and multimedia assignments (such as posters and pod casts).
