The Executive MBA programme is ideal for those seeking to develop an executive career in industry, consultancy, banking or the public sector, it is also ideal for those interested in developing their own business. The programme is accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA). Automatic membership of the Chartered Management Institute and a CMI Level 7 Diploma award, in addition to an international study tour and 2 management development weekends are included in the fees.
Our AMBA-accredited MBAs are for professionals with management experience and this is reflected in our entry requirements. We are delighted to offer places to applicants who meet either of the following criteria: A minimum of 3 years relevant work experience plus a good (2.2) degree in any subject from a recognised university or an equivalent international, academic or professional qualification; or significant management experience and a substantial record of achievement. Candidates meeting this criteria may not have previously studied at university. Supporting references are required in all cases. If English is not your first language, you must provide evidence of your English language ability. Our minimum requirements are: IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT- 90 or TOEFL paper-based test 577. Manchester Metropolitan University has a British Council accredited English Language Centre. Prospective students who do not have English as a first language are strongly encouraged to attend a pre-sessional English class in July and August. The GMAT exam, which measures verbal, mathematical, and analytical writing skills, is not normally required. However, if we do not recognise your previous qualifications you may be required to take GMAT.
Core modules: managing human performance; managing customer value; managing for business excellence; financial analysis and management; contemporary issues in the international environment; corporate and business strategy in an international context; strategy implementation; organisational renewal and change; reflections on the MBA journey. Optional modules have previously included: applied economic theory; business psychology in action; sustainable leadership for the future; supply chain planning; international brand strategy; project management organisation and systems; emerging technologies for the enterprise; strategies for performance; strategic planning and alignment; clients and markets; motivating and managing teams; leadership and managing change.
The assessment package as a whole is designed to assess achievement across a wide range of different knowledge and skills. In Parts 1 and 2, a mix of assignments and examinations are used. As most students are all generally in full time employment, the assessments are set so that they can relate them to their work and are in assignment form. After completing the taught element of the programme, students undertake a dissertation and are strongly encouraged to undertake a consultancy project type or enterprise dissertation.
